Internship Project Proposal
Development of an Advanced Conference Room Microphone and Speaker System.
The project aims to design and develop an advanced conference room microphone and speaker system that provides superior voice pickup, noise reduction, and clear audio output, leveraging DSP technology and AI for real-time multilingual audio transcription.
Effective communication during meetings is crucial in modern office environments. Traditional microphones and speakers often fail to capture and deliver voices clearly, especially in larger rooms or noisy environments. Bitwise Lab, specializing in AI and electronic design, seeks to develop a robust solution that enhances meeting experiences by providing clear audio capture and output, ensuring data confidentiality while leveraging advanced AI capabilities.
Omnidirectional Microphone Design: Develop a system with multiple microphones to provide 360-degree voice pickup around the table, ensuring voices are captured from all directions with equal clarity.
Speaker Integration: Incorporate a high-quality speaker to deliver clear audio output, complementing the microphones for a seamless audio experience.
DSP Technology Integration: Implement DSP (Digital Signal Processing) technology to enhance voice clarity, reduce echo, and minimize background noise such as air conditioners, mouse clicks, and keyboard typing.
AI-Powered Features: Integrate a built-in processor for real-time, self-hostable multilingual audio transcription, utilizing AI to provide natural-sounding voice output and improve the overall conference experience.
Prototype Development: Use a ready-to-use electronic board like Arduino or Raspberry Pi for the prototype, focusing on developing the microphone and speaker systems.
Literature Review and Model Selection: Begin with a comprehensive review of current DSP technologies and AI models suited for audio transcription and noise reduction.
Development and Testing: Build a scalable, secure system using open-source and proprietary tools as needed, focusing on accuracy and multilingual capabilities.
User Evaluation: Evaluate the system with end-users in simulated meeting scenarios to gather feedback for iterative improvement.

The project will be supervised by experienced engineers at Bitwise Lab, providing technical support, computing resources, and guidance. This mentorship will ensure that the project meets both scientific and practical standards.
EU students placed at Bitwise Lab may be eligible for the Erasmus+ Programme, supporting their stay throughout the project duration.
This project will provide students with hands-on experience in hardware design and development, specifically in the areas of microphone and speaker systems. It aligns with the strategic goals of Bitwise Lab in advancing electronic design and creating practical solutions for modern office environments. By focusing on the integration of DSP technology and the development of a robust prototype using platforms like Arduino or Raspberry Pi, students will gain valuable skills in creating high-quality audio systems that enhance communication during meetings.
